Midland’s newest tuition-free K-5 school to welcome families with a focus on classical education and character development.
A group of local entrepreneurs and education advocates proudly announces the opening of Founders Grove Classical Academy, a tuition-free public charter school that will welcome students in grades Kindergarten through fifth in Fall 2026. With an eye toward growth, the school envisions expanding to serve grades K-12 by Fall 2034. Founders Grove will be located in the city of Midland, with the exact location to be announced in the near future.
Led by a passionate founding board of directors composed of experienced educators, community leaders, and local professionals, Founders Grove is committed to fostering academic excellence through a classical and virtuous foundation. The school’s mission is to inspire students to pursue the truth, discern what is good, and love the beautiful. Scholars will flourish into capable citizens with a mature understanding of human nature and self-governance.
Rooted in classical pedagogy, the curriculum emphasizes critical thinking, deep reading, and purposeful discourse. Students will be expected to uphold the school virtues of integrity, courage, respect, excellence, humility, gratitude, and wonder.
Families and community members are invited to attend an upcoming informational event on May 21st, 6:00 pm, in the McNair Conference Room at Northwood University (4000 Whiting Drive, Midland, MI 48640), where they will learn more about classical education, the curriculum, and engage with the vision behind Founders Grove.
